Homicide Victim Found In Burning Car: Philadelphia Police

Philadelphia police are investigating the murder of a person whose remains were discovered in a burning car in the Northeast early on Tuesday, April 18.

Firefighters responded to a reported vehicle fire on the 5900 block of Sylvester Street around 12:45 a.m., the police department told Daily Voice. 

They extinguished the flames of a burning SUV to find a person in the back seat of the vehicle, authorities said. First responders pronounced the victim dead at 12:50 a.m. and the remains were transported to the Medical Examiner's Office, police wrote. 

Police did not identify the victim but said the death was "suspicious" and is under investigation by homicide detectives.
